New retailer for Prestbury village
The village of Prestbury has a new retailer opening this week, Leigh’s Hair for Men.
Within days of the old lease expiring, KBW successfully secured a new tenant for this ground floor retail / office unit which extends to 703 sq ft on a new 15 year lease. Having previously been occupied by an estate agent, a Class A2 use in planning terms, this unit has now been refitted and opens this week as a gentleman’s barbershop. The business is run by Mandy Woodward and son Liam, both highly ambitious and experienced hair dressers from the local area with a loyal following.
If you are considering taking on a retail unit, understanding the permitted uses of a building is an important first step in establishing whether any planning consent will be required by the local authority, with the agreement also of the landlord.
The subject property was marketed with the benefit of Class A2 planning consent, but a change of use to Class A1 (general retail which includes a barber shop) is permitted under planning law without the need of an application.
